Upper East Side ladies are accustomed to looking at major gemstones, but even the most bedazzled were impressed Tuesday evening when Graff and Julia Koch hosted a cocktail party to unveil the 31.06-carat deep blue Wittelsbach-Graff diamond which will be exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History starting October 28. The diamond hasn’t been out on public display in more than 50 years, and don’t think it didn’t whet a few appetites. Graff president and chief executive Henri Barguirdjian admitted the stone is technically for sale, and he’d even received a few offers since the jewelry house purchased it two years ago. He wouldn’t give up any prices, “but [the diamond is] still here so it obviously was not enough.”
