Uma Thurman in Ralph Lauren Collection

Ralph Lauren’s new mansion on Madison Avenue was built to resemble a grand old Manhattan home — you know, the kind they don’t build anymore. Suitably, Lauren’s first major party there — to celebrate Gloria Vanderbilt’s new book — felt a lot like the salon gatherings of the days of yore.
Uma Thurman lounged on a white sofa; designer Adolfo greeted his old friend Vanderbilt, and grande society dames like Deeda Blair, Lee Radziwill and Marisa Berenson mingled with the (relatively) newer crop Aerin Lauder and Marina Rust.
Sarah Jessica Parker arrived fashionably late with Bravo exec Andy Cohen. “If I don’t get to Gloria, I hope to at least get a glimpse of her from afar,” Parker said.
Ralph Lauren, who hadn’t met Vanderbilt prior to the book party, was eager for her to sign his copy. “I’ve always admired her because of her taste and beauty, and I’m not disappointed,” he said. “I’m sorry I didn’t meet her earlier.”
