LAST HURRAH: Braving fashion week fatigue and gray skies, fashion designers and executives turned out in force for a party celebrating the end of Paris Couture Week.
Didier Grumbach, the outgoing president of the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, hosted the black-tie bash with members of the federation’s executive committee, including his successor Ralph Toledano, president of Puig’s fashion division; Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel; Guillaume de Seynes, managing director at Hermès, and Sidney Toledano, chief executive officer of Christian Dior.
Guests at the party, held at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, included Kenzo Takada, Christian Louboutin, Guillaume Henry, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Maxime Simoens, Lucas Ossendrijver, Zuhair Murad, Alexandre Vauthier, Bruno Frisoni, Alexis Mabille, Bouchra Jarrar, Pierre Hardy, Martine Sitbon, Anne-Valérie Hash, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Yiqing Yin and Jean-Claude Jitrois.
Attendees wandered through the grand town house, many congregating in the winter garden where a pianist tinkled Katy Perry’s “Roar” — apropos for the stuffed tiger propped amid ferns in one of the glassed-in courtyards.
Fashion illustrator and educator Gladys Perint Palmer was puzzled by the midcentury furniture planted here and there. She revealed that she has taken on a broader role beyond fashion at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and now carries the title of executive vice president, in charge of artistic development.
Wearing a checkered Prada coat to ward off the chill in the garden, Raf Simons, who spends many weekends in Antwerp, Belgium, was recounting excitedly how high-speed train operator Thalys was planning to reduce the transit time from Paris to Brussels to 50 minutes.
Schiaparelli designer Marco Zanini, who is half Swedish, half Italian, said he would spend some time in Scandinavia this summer.
