A curious trend emerged as guests streamed into a dinner celebrating both Marc Jacobs’ collection and the 10-year anniversary of Marc by Marc Jacobs on Monday night. A noticeable percentage of early arrivals to the affair, held at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, paused at the front table that held seat assignments to place their name cards next to Jacobs’ and snap pictures. The cult of Marc, it seems, is very healthy.

Though largely populated by friends and employees, a handful of familiar front-row faces, including Michael Pitt, Sofia Coppola, Karen Elson and Terry Richardson joined the group. It being Valentine’s Day, a heart motif ruled the evening. Candy necklaces and bracelets were scattered about the place settings. Shortly before The Scissor Sisters played a short set, Leighton Meester, whose character on “Gossip Girl” is currently working at W, mused on life in fashion and media.

“When it’s fake, it’s just acting, which is extremely fun, but I think it would be torment because I was going crazy just having to pretend to do the work,” she said as the runway show played on a monitor behind her. “It’s intense.”

A table away, Jacobs sat between Lorenzo Martone and Robert Duffy.

“I haven’t watched it [the show] yet, but I feel it went well and I’m pleased and tomorrow’s another show and the collection looks beautiful and I’m very excited and then I’m off to Paris to work on Vuitton with my team there and it just keeps going,” Jacobs said. “It’s normal.”
