“It’s so much about nostalgia, about my high school days in New York,” said Gwyneth Paltrow of the all-American Coach during the cocktail and dinner to fete the opening of the brand’s first European flagship at 41 Bond Street in London. “I’m honored they asked me,” said the actress, who is a brand ambassador and the star of the latest worldwide campaign.
But Paltrow, who joined guests including husband Chris Martin, Mario Testino, Thandie Newton, Jacquetta Wheeler, Dinos and Tiphaine Chapman, Marc Quinn, Jasmine Guinness and David Bailey at the newly refurbished Arts Club in Mayfair, doesn’t just have leather accessories on the brain.
Next month, she’s headed to New York to start shooting “Thanks for Sharing,” an indie film starring Mark Ruffalo and Tim Robbins about recovering sex addicts. And she’s already at work on cookbook number two. “This one is more about looking after yourself. It’s easy food — the kind you make when you want to whip yourself into shape and be healthy.” She said the timing was still up in the air. “The last one took me three years to make.”
Dinos Chapman, meanwhile, has a decidedly different writing project in the works: a dark, Brothers Grimm-esque children’s book. “It’s about death and its inevitability — just in case they think they’re going to live forever,” said Chapman, who’s planning to offer personal readings as a prize during a charity raffle later this year.
Guinness, meanwhile, flew the family flag. The model was spotted carrying a Lulu Guinness evening bag. “I know it’s not Coach. I’m being a bit of a rebel tonight.”
