SPORTS MINDED: On Saturday night, GQ hosted its seasonal party at the Park Hyatt’s bar. Designers Brian Atwood, Michael Bastian and Carlo Capasa were among the guests, along with John Varvatos, relaxed after his show earlier in the day as he went around showing pictures of his athletic four-year-old daughter. “Today she went skiing for the first time, but even before taking the first lesson she told me on the phone that she was already able to ski,” said the designer with a laugh.
Calvin Klein Collection creative director Italo Zucchelli prefers New York’s West Side urban jungle over mountain slopes for his favorite sport: roller-blading. “I started rollerblading when I was a teenager and I don’t even use protection,” he said. “It’s something very special to do in New York at the sunset — you see the river, you watch at the sky, I feel like I’m flying.”
Filmmaking is Kean Etro’s current obsession, said the Milanese designer, who recently published “I Giganti,” a short film based on Etro's spring/summer men’s 2013 collection and realized with digital artist Giacomo Giannella, on the company Web site. “I’m currently working on another micro film featuring animals that progressively transform into awoman representing Mother Nature,” he said.
