Diego Garcia, former front man of the indie music group Elefant, is now flying solo. On the rooftop of The Standard hotel in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday night, the Latin music “It” boy serenaded an intimate crowd with his new single, “You Were Never There,” which drops July 13. “Tonight was really something special. It might have been my greatest show ever,” Garcia said confidently. After performances earlier this year in New York, Miami and L.A. as part of the Standard Sounds series, Garcia is headed to Miami, where he and his wife, Abaeté designer Laura Poretzky, and their newborn daughter, are living for the summer. Garcia’s performance benefited The Pablove Foundation to support children’s cancer research and treatment. “I am a new dad and now I really understand how important this cause is,” Garcia said. “I plan to continue to help in whatever way I can.”
