Anjelica Huston and Paul Fortune played host for Paris parfumeur Frederic Malle at a dinner celebrating the launch of his candles collection at Barneys New York. The glam party was held Thursday night at Villa Vallombrosa, the Whitley Heights residence of photographer Tim Street-Porter and Annie Kelly. The Hollywood Hills enclave was home in the Twenties to Valentino, Jean Harlow, Charlie Chaplin, and Bette Davis, and costume designer Adrian was a former owner (he lived there in the Thirties when he was doing the costumes for Greta Garbo's "Mata Hari").
The provenance of the setting wasn't lost on Malle. "The whole idea is to take fine fragrance into the home where it can be complex and unique," he said. One of the candles captures the scent of his parent's home — a specific blend of potpourri known only to "about 50 other people in Paris who lived in those times." Such a sophisticated palette calls for equally stylish guests, so neighbors Jacqui Getty and Tracee Ellis Ross were in attendance, as were Danny Huston and girlfriend Lynn Renee, Lisa and Eric Eisner, Cameron Silver, Angelique Soave, Kelly Lynch and Mitch Glazer, Peggy Moffitt and Gelila Puck.
