ANNA SUI
Destination: "Detroit." Fashion staples: "My new Hunter wellies to combat the snow." Activities: "I plan on visiting the Eero Saarinen exhibition at the Cranbrook Art Museum. This will be interesting to see for many reasons, but mostly because of a personal tie: The first project my father ever worked on as an engineer was with Eero Saarinen at the GM Tech Center." Hot spots: "Slows in downtown Detroit for delicious barbecue, and The Cupcake Station in Birmingham for dessert." Most looking forward to: "Shopping at the Somerset Mall with my nieces." Travel tip: "I really love my new Samsonite luggage. It's on wheels so it's very easy to get from place to place with everything in tow. And my favorite part is the pattern — it's Samsonite Black Label's limited edition Pop flower pattern." In her suitcase: "My Flight of Fancy fragrance, sweaters and printed dresses from my fall collection and my most festive jewelry pieces." On her wish list: "Black and white Victorian transferware."
FABIOLA BERACASA
Destinations: "Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Phuket and Chiang Rai, Thailand." Most excited about: "The Four Seasons camp resort in Chiang Rai. It's run by Jason Friedman [Douglas' brother] and has tented camps where you can play elephant polo and relax surrounded by the beauty of the Golden Triangle." Fashion staples: "I will pack camp-chic, and lots of sarongs and easy dresses — maybe two pairs of heels just for Hong Kong." Activities: "In Phuket, I'll be at the Amanpuri celebrating the New Year...and sitting on the beach." Luggage: "Every year I try to keep it light, but somehow I always end up with two suitcases. No matter how long I go for or where, it seems to be the magic number for me." Travel tips: "Read lots of books and shop for local things. You can get all the brand names in NYC, so why bother schlepping it back?"
MARJORIE GUBELMANN
Destination: "Palm Beach, Fla." Fashion staples: "Tory Burch Danira dress and Taj tunic — Tory knows her clients better than any woman; Alberta Ferretti short-sleeve dresses for day in blue and brown with white topstitching — they are beautifully made and very flattering; Giorgio Armani python Venus Bag — it makes the transition from N.Y. to P.B. and I do not have to change bags; Carolina Herrera violet print silk faille cocktail dress; Christian Louboutin wedges for day and patent leather heels for night; Lambertson Truex bright-colored clutch for night; Michael Kors jeweled caftans — I feel as though I am pulling into port on a huge boat when I wear Michael's resort clothes; J. Crew zebra merino T-shirt." Activities: "Putting the pool heat on high, air-conditioning on low and disco music very loud, as my father is out of the country! Reading Hello magazine; swimming with my son, Cyrus. Large lunches with friends and plenty of naps, facials and blow-dries." Hot spots: "Chez Jean-Pierre for dinner, Michael McCarty's for late-night drinks, Harry LeFrak's party and the Coconuts on New Year's Eve. Dinner parties at home. Of course I have to go and see the movie 'The Walker.'" Most looking forward to: "Christmas Day. My son is old enough to understand it now." Travel tip: "Take a Vie Luxe individual Jet Set votive candle to burn to get into vacation mode....Take an early morning flight when traveling with a child to try and reduce chances of delays." In her suitcase: "Jewels [real] — very important." On her wish list: "A very large Leviev diamond necklace, Celestina clutch in checkerboard mother of pearl, a G5."
