Hollywood can be a fickle industry. So what better way to navigate it than as a double threat? Though many know Alicia Witt for her acting work in films like “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “Two Weeks Notice” and “The Upside of Anger,” the Worcester, Mass., native is an equally accomplished musician. A classically trained pianist, she once earned extra cash as a teenager playing nights at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Though you can still see the 34-year-old on TV shows like “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Friday Night Lights,” Witt has been equally focused on songwriting and performing: last summer, she released a four-track, self-titled EP on iTunes and she has just finished a video for her single “Anyway,” about the end of a toxic relationship.

Witt and her band will be performing “Anyway,” along with a mix of covers (Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al”) and original songs (her girl power anthem “About Me”), when they take the stage at Joe’s Pub Saturday for an hour-long gig. The actress-musician shared her summer playlist with WWD.

1. “Gettin Over You” by David Guetta & Chris Willis feat. Fergie & LMFAO. “How can a tortured breakup song feel so good?”

2. “Parachute” by Train. “I think this is a perfect love song.”

3. “Impossible” by Anberlin. “Soulful hard rock. The best kind!”

4. “Here’s Where the Story Ends” by The Sundays. “This song never gets old.”

5. “Fire with Fire” by Scissor Sisters. “When I first heard it I danced around my house to it four times in a row.”
