Queen Elizabeth II was apparently quite the fashion plate in her youth. “[Elizabeth Alexandra Mary] sets many a fashion for children,” wrote WWD on December 10, 1936. “When her mother dressed her in yellow, mothers throughout the world put their children in yellow.” The London correspondent also noted that the royal daughter, at age 10, was “quite an imperious little girl— ‘bossy’ in fact. She would fly into a tiny temper if doors were not opened immediately for the ‘princess.’”
