Raf Simons Splits With Italian Partner

Belgian designer cancels writing appointments; keeps scheduled runway show in Paris.

PARIS – Raf Simons, scheduled to show his fall-winter collection in Paris tonight, has cancelled all writing appointments during Men’s Fashion Week here and terminated his partnership with Italy’s Futurenet Group.

Retail clients were informed of the change via brief letters from Simons’ team and Futurenet’s Stefano Martinetto. Both parties declined further comment.

Simons’ letter said dates for sales of the fall-winter collection would be communicated "as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, Futurenet assured deliveries of the spring-summer line and expressed "regret" over the  "suspension"  of its collaboration.

Futurenet holds exclusive licensing rights for all Raf Simons labels via a joint venture agreement with Japan’s Mitsui Group, which they inked in 2005. Production, for the most part, is centralized in Italy.

The partners operate two freestanding Raf Simons stores, in Tokyo and Osaka.
