Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman said he gleaned inspiration for Valentino’s beauty look from some photographs taken by David Hamilton in which the subjects look “pure.” Souleiman created woven buns then encircled them loosely with ribbon.

“There are no bows, no frills,” he said. “It is quite fluid. It’s an updo, but really romantic.”

For her part, makeup artist Pat McGrath took a lead from colors found in Valentino’s fall fashion collection. She applied shimmering pink pigment powder to models’ faces, including their brow- and cheekbones.

“At this show, it’s all about clean, very fresh, very beautiful faces,” said McGrath, who used a metallic cream eye color and Max Factor’s Color Genius Blush.
