The incongruous pairing of Dorothy (as in the singing seeker of the Wizard of Oz) and Predator (as in the bloodthirsty extraterrestrial) inspired hair backstage at Gareth Pugh.

Hair was slicked back from the face using hair spray and shine spray before being worked into long braids. “They’re rope braids so they’re not too pretty,” said stylist Martin Cullen, who used extensions to create fullness and length.

Makeup, meanwhile, also had an otherworldly feel since it was created with a palette of blue hues. Alex Box, who was working with MAC Cosmetics, was inspired by makeup techniques used when filming black-and-white movies in the past. “It’s like when Dorothy stepped from black-and-white into color,” she said. Box used MAC pigments and Paint Sticks to create the look, which contrasted accentuated features in blue against white complexions.
