“The inspiration is a Bruce Weber girl,” said Val Garland, who was working backstage at Nicole Farhi with MAC Cosmetics. “It’s very outdoorsy, there’s a flush on the cheeks, a ruddiness and a nod toward Brooke Shields’ eyebrows.” To create a dewy complexion, Garland first massaged the skin and applied MAC Face and Body foundation. She created a shadow over eyes using MAC Pro Paint Stick in Deep Brown and MAC Eye Shadow in Cork. “It looks like she’s been wearing a hat,” said Garland, who finished off eyes with black Plush Lash Mascara. Cheeks and lips were given a healthy glow using MAC lipstick in House Wine, while eyebrows were pushed upward using a mascara brush with most of its product wiped off.

Hairstylist Sam McKnight took a tousled approach to hair. “It’s a very light, very young, very small head,” he said. Hair, which was devoid of product, was backcombed before being plaited at the back. The disheveled braid was then tucked under itself.
