It was all about the hair at the Yohji Yamamoto show Monday.

Eugene Souleiman based his do on the widow-inspired styles from the collection, plus a touch of sexiness.

“It’s Miss Marple-meets-Catherine Deneuve in ‘The Hunger,’” he quipped. “The shape is tight to the head on one side, but big, baggy and sensual on the other.” The overall effect is of a lived-in updo.

To give the style a solid base, hair on the lower half of the head was tightly wound around dozens of hairpins and left standing upright. Upon this, the rest of the hair was placed in a loose ponytail, giving a cloud effect. A pin curl and an elastic band then held the ends, which are tucked back into the do.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath contrasted this with a supersimple face.

“To keep things serene and pale, we applied a layer of foundation and nothing else — no eyes, no lips,” she explained. So it was Shu Uemura Color Corrector in White, and c’est tout.
