Three time periods of barbie were celebrated with hair and makeup that alluded to the icon’s ever-changing style. “She’s iconic, classically gorgeous,” said makeup artist Charlotte TIlbury for Stila about the show’s muse. “The looks were divided into three sections--futuristic, present and past.”

Present day barbie had pretty pink cheeks and glowed with Illuminating Liquid Foundation. A dewy pink lip, “giggle” Lip Vinyl, and pronounced lashes, enhanced by Stay all day Waterproof liner completed the look. Hair for present barbie, which was styled by Orlando Pita for T3 was “big Valley of the Dolls teased hair” created with Plump and Control hairspray. Past barbie had a “Fifties black cat eye and a red glossy lip,” said Tilbury, who used Stay All Day waterproof liner and strawberry Lip Glaze. The face was structural with a fade cheek color and brows lightly darkened.

Pita’s ultra high wrapped ponytail and slicked back tresses evoked vintage barbie as did the strong, straight bangs. For Tilbury, futuristic barbie was inspired by “butterfly and “carnival,” with glitter and sequins, exotic purples, blues and fuschias. “We wanted to do something outrageous but beautiful, something a little haughty and sensuous,” said Tilbury, who used Stila Smudge Pot in wisteria and colbalt on eyes and praline Lip Glaze on lips. Eyebrows were covered wtih bold violet feathers and lilac gemstones and complexions glistened with Tinted Moisturizer/Perfecting Concealer and Sun Bronzer. “Future barbie is doe-ish,” said Pita who created voluminous highly placed buns that were wrapped in braided hair extensions. Pita used his newest offering, T3 Dry Conditioner which he said was great for wigs and hair alike.
