Looking as if they'd been walking in the snow for hours, Galliano's models were meant to resemble “frozen Ukrainian brides,” according to makeup artist Pat McGrath backstage Wednesday evening. The looks she created for the collection ranged from gray-silver tones with a strong thin brow, to faces with “lots of frosty colors” in broad sweeps around the eye--mainly lime green, baby blue and lavender. Silver and gold tones were used on the lid, lashes and under the eyes to evoke “icy tears,” McGrath added. For the brides' mouths, McGrath emphasized the ethereal look by applying color only on the center of models' lips.

“We want people to cry when they see this,” said hairstylist Julien d'Ys. Using his favorite gel by Japanese brand Tamaris, he concocted a selection of headpieces from starched gauze. “They're a cross between a bride, a nun and the Madonna,” he explained.
