After 31 years with the Estée Lauder Cos., Daria Myers has decided to step down as president of the Origins division, a brand she helped start in 1990.

In a letter sent to employees Tuesday, William P. Lauder, chief executive officer, said, "Daria is truly one of the great creative minds in our business and has been one of the industry's leading innovators in developing the area of natural and authentic beauty brands." He added that a new general manager will be named soon, and Myers will return in a senior advisory role after taking some time off.

Asked to comment further on Tuesday while attending FIT's graduation ceremony, Lauder said, "It was time for her to move on to other responsibilities within the company. I am hoping to name a successor over the next few weeks."

Myers started her career at Lauder's Aramis Division, then in 1989 joined the team led by William Lauder that launched Origins. After 10 years, she moved to the Aveda division as senior vice president of global marketing, creative and product development. In 2003, she returned to Origins and led the evolution of the brand with the addition of a line by Dr. Andrew Weil and Origins Organics, billed as the first prestige line of skin, body and hair care products to be certified according to USDA standards.
