What would Little Red Riding Hood look like if she gobbled up the wolf? That’s what Giambattista Valli imagined for his fall fashion collection and what makeup artist Ellis Fass and hairstylist Orlando Pita envisaged for the corresponding beauty look.

For Valli’s runway show, Fass paled down models’ faces, including lips. Then, after each passage on the runway, Fass added to mouths a new layer of red stain. By the fifth go-round, models were meant to look as if they’d gorged themselves on the beast.

Pita, meantime, had models’ hair pulled back over their ears (“to give a hood feeling,” he said). Pita then concocted a low-slung bun and turned blow-dryers on coifs to produce flyaway texture.

“It gives a windswept, light, airy feeling,” said Pita, adding no beauty products were used to achieve the look.
