KEEPING TIME: Paris department store Printemps is celebrating luxury watches with its first exhibition of timepieces by the likes of Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels.
The eight participating brands, all belonging to luxury group Compagnie Financière Richemont, have selected recent launches alongside museum-worthy pieces for the show, which opened on Thursday and is scheduled to run until June 16. In separate news, Printemps announced it would restore its historic facade on the Rue du Havre as part of its ongoing, multi-year renovation.
Dating back to 1882, the granite and white marble facade features four sculptures by Henri Chapu, representing the Four Seasons. This second phase of renovation follows the restoration of the store’s two building facades on Boulevard Haussmann, begun in 2007 and completed in 2009.
Printemps has also been overhauling the inside of the store: Up next is the third floor, which carries women’s contemporary ready-to-wear brands.
