NEW YORK — Jessica Simpson’s impending nuptials might have inspired her next business venture: a fine jewelry collection with an emphasis on diamonds.

The singer turned fashion mogul will become Firestar Diamond’s first celebrity license with the introduction of the Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend collection, slated to hit Zales stores exclusively in October.

“Jessica Simpson is viewed as the girl next door, and our guest is a midmarket guest and we believe she is someone that they can identify with. She has great reach and great power across a number of different categories, so doing a diamond fashion collection made perfect sense,” said Theo Killion, Zale Corp.’s chief executive officer, adding that the line will be available at 400 doors nationwide.

Fine jewelry will become Simpson’s 22nd retail category, which already includes shoes, apparel, accessories and fragrances. Offerings are comprised of three groups that include pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets and bangles in gold, silver, diamonds, or a combination of the three — and will range in price from $79 to $999.

“Jewelry is such personal expression of style and taste. This collection has allowed me to create pieces that truly reflect who I am, and that can become a keepsake for lifetime,” Simpson told WWD, noting that the loops on the heart are taken from her actual script handwriting. “The collection is beautifully crafted. The designs are airy and artistic and so easy to wear.”

Keeping her vision in mind of creating a collection “that’s accessible to all women and girls of different shapes, budgets and tastes,” Simpson said she designs for “every woman” and the entry price point of less than $100 is a clear indicator of this.

Rose gold butterfly pendants bordered in diamonds (and Simpson’s favorite pieces) will start at $199, white gold hearts with diamonds will also starting at $199 and sterling silver crosses with diamonds will cost just $79.99.

“I love that a piece of fine jewelry can be passed down from generation to generation. I cherish the pieces that were given to me, so it is really special to be able to design my own,” Simpson said.
